Trêzor.io/start® — Starting Up Your Device

Welcome to Trêzor.io/start®, your first step toward securely managing your cryptocurrency with a Trezor hardware wallet. Whether you’re a first-time user or returning for a new device, this guide will walk you through the setup process, ensuring your digital assets remain safe from hacks, phishing attacks, and accidental loss.

Unboxing Your Trezor

Before you begin, carefully unpack your Trezor device. Inside the box, you should find:

  • Your Trezor hardware wallet
  • A USB cable
  • Recovery seed cards
  • Quick start guides and stickers

Inspect the device for any signs of tampering. Trezor devices are shipped with a tamper-evident seal, so do not use your wallet if the seal is broken. For more details on device security, visit our official security guidelines page.

Step 1: Connecting Your Device

  1. Connect your Trezor to your computer using the included USB cable.
  2. Open a compatible browser and go to Trêzor.io/start.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to select your device model.

At this stage, your device may prompt you to install the latest firmware. Always use the official firmware updates to protect your assets. Learn more about updating your Trezor firmware here.

Step 2: Installing Trezor Suite

Trezor Suite is the companion app that lets you manage your wallet, send and receive cryptocurrency, and check balances safely.

  • Download Trezor Suite directly from Trêzor.io/start.
  • Follow the installation instructions for your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux).
  • Once installed, launch the app and connect your device.

Trezor Suite ensures that all transactions are signed on your device and never on your computer, providing maximum security for your crypto holdings. You can learn more about Trezor Suite features here.

Step 3: Initializing Your Wallet

When starting your device for the first time, you have two options:

  1. Create a new wallet
  2. Recover an existing wallet

Creating a New Wallet

  • Select “Create new wallet” in Trezor Suite.
  • Write down the 12 to 24-word recovery seed on the included recovery card. This is the only way to recover your wallet if your device is lost or stolen.
  • Confirm your recovery seed on the device.

Recovering an Existing Wallet

  • Choose “Recover wallet”.
  • Enter your recovery seed using the Trezor device.
  • Complete the setup following the on-screen instructions.

For detailed guidance, visit our wallet recovery page.

Step 4: Securing Your Device

Your recovery seed is your lifeline. Keep it offline, in a safe place, and never share it with anyone. Trezor will never ask for your recovery phrase online. Consider using a Trezor Metal backup for additional protection against fire or water damage. Learn more about secure storage options here.

Step 5: Adding Cryptocurrency Accounts

Once your wallet is initialized:

  1. Open Trezor Suite.
  2. Select “Add account”.
  3. Choose the cryptocurrency you wish to manage.

Trezor supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, and over 1,500 tokens. You can also integrate Trezor with third-party wallets like Exodus or Electrum for advanced management. Explore supported coins here.

Step 6: Sending and Receiving Crypto

To receive funds:

  • Click “Receive” in Trezor Suite.
  • Verify the receiving address on your device before sharing.

To send funds:

  • Click “Send”, enter the recipient address, and confirm on your Trezor device.

This double verification ensures your crypto transactions are always secure. For more on transaction safety, check out our security tips page.

Step 7: Staying Up to Date

Regular updates keep your Trezor secure. Trezor Suite will notify you of firmware and software updates. Always verify updates through official Trezor channels. For additional learning, visit our Trezor Academy for guides, tutorials, and tips.
